Large TV mounting

BIG TV. BIGGER RESPONSIBILITY.

From blank wall to game day.

I mount TVs from 76 to 85 inches as a priced add-on of $69 on top of the standard install. That covers a second person or a lift aid if the TV needs one. TVs over 85 inches, or over about 100 lb, get a custom quote. *Most standard jobs. Basic mount included. Specialty installations and additional work may cost extra. Final price confirmed before installation.

Weight first

WHAT DOES YOUR TV WEIGH?

Weight decides more than size. Before install day, find your TV’s weight without the stand in the manual or on the maker’s spec page. The mount has to be rated above that weight and fit the TV’s VESA hole pattern. Mount makers also require the wall itself to hold several times the combined weight (Sanus instructions).

That is why large TVs go into wood studs, never drywall alone.

Studs and lifting

TWO STUDS. TWO SETS OF HANDS.

Wall studs are usually 16 inches apart on center (Sanus), and a large TV mount should catch at least two of them. That can limit how far left or right the TV can sit, so we check stud positions before we pick the final spot.

Big screens are awkward more than heavy. Lifting an 85 inch panel onto a mount safely takes a second person or a lift aid, which the add-on covers.

LARGE TV ADD-ON VS CUSTOM QUOTE

The large TV add-on keeps the same standard install routine and adds what a 76 to 85 inch screen needs. Studs found, height agreed with you, mount into wood, and a level check before I leave. Anything heavier, bigger or more complex goes to a custom quote first. *Most standard jobs. Basic mount included. Specialty installations and additional work may cost extra. Final price confirmed before installation.

LARGE TV QUESTIONS

What people ask before mounting a really big TV. The add-on covers 76 to 85 inch screens on standard walls, the included tilt mount is checked against your TV, and anything over 85 inches or with an articulating arm gets a custom quote. How much does it cost to mount an 85 inch TV?

With THE HANGMAN, an 85 inch TV is the standard install of $229 plus the large TV add-on of $69, on drywall over wood studs. Fireplaces, brick and wire hiding are extra add-ons.

Can you mount a TV bigger than 85 inches?

TVs over 85 inches, or over about 100 lb, get a custom quote. Send the model number with a custom quote request.

Can drywall hold a big TV?

Not on its own. A large TV mount goes into wood studs, and mount makers such as Sanus require the wall to hold several times the TV and mount weight combined.

Can I get a full-motion mount for a 85 inch TV?

Full-motion and articulating arms for TVs 75 inches and up get a custom quote, because the arm puts much more leverage on the wall.

What size TV is right for my room?

It depends on how far you sit. Cinema guidelines from SMPTE and THX work out to roughly 1.2 to 1.6 times the screen size in viewing distance. See what size TV.
