TV wire hiding

HIDE THE TV WIRES.

No dangling cords on my watch.

I hide TV wires three ways, each a priced add-on to your install: a paintable cord cover ($49), AV cables inside the wall when an outlet is already behind the TV ($99), or an in-wall kit with a listed plug-in power kit ($179, kit included). *Most standard jobs. Basic mount included. Specialty installations and additional work may cost extra. Final price confirmed before installation.

The rule nobody mentions

THE TV POWER CORD STAYS OUT.

A regular TV power cord is not rated to run inside a wall, so I never push one through the drywall. When power needs to be hidden, I use a listed in-wall power kit: it plugs into your existing outlet below the TV and feeds a receptacle behind the screen through its own in-wall rated cable (Wiremold CMK70 FAQ).

Nothing is connected to your house wiring.

WHICH WIRE OPTION FITS YOUR WALL?

Pick the option that matches your wall and outlet. A cord cover works on almost any wall. In-wall AV cables need an outlet already behind the TV. The plug-in power kit needs one clear stud bay with a straight drop to the outlet below. Everything else gets a custom quote. *Most standard jobs. Basic mount included. Specialty installations and additional work may cost extra. Final price confirmed before installation.

Priced add-ons

  • Paintable cord cover on the wall surface: $49
  • In-wall AV cables only, outlet already behind the TV: $99
  • In-wall with plug-in power kit, single stud bay, straight drop, drywall, kit included: $179

Custom quote

  • Runs across more than one stud bay
  • Horizontal runs, or a fire block in the way
  • Runs to a closet or another room
  • Fireplace, brick, plaster or other masonry walls

Need an outlet moved or power behind the TV? Ask me when you call or text, and I will talk it through with you. If an outlet is already there, in-wall AV cables are a simple add-on.

What can stop a wire

FIRE BLOCKS AND SIDEWAYS RUNS.

Not every wall lets a cable drop straight down. Some stud bays have a fire block, a horizontal piece of framing partway down, and some setups need the cable to travel sideways to reach the outlet. Those runs need more cutting and patching, so they get a custom quote instead of the flat add-on.

If I find a fire block on the day, I will stop and tell you the options before doing anything extra. A cord cover is always a fallback.

WIRE HIDING QUESTIONS

What people ask before they hide TV wires. The key points: the TV power cord never goes inside the wall on its own, a listed plug-in power kit handles power from the outlet you already have, and anything beyond a single straight stud bay gets a custom quote. More on the answers page. *Most standard jobs. Basic mount included. Specialty installations and additional work may cost extra. Final price confirmed before installation.

Can you hide TV wires without an electrician?

Yes, in most cases. A listed plug-in power kit plugs into your existing outlet and does not connect to house wiring. Want an outlet moved or added instead? Ask me when you call or text, and I will talk it through with you.

How much does it cost to hide TV wires in the wall?

With THE HANGMAN, in-wall concealment with a plug-in power kit is a $179 add-on, kit included, for a single stud bay with a straight drop on drywall. AV cables only, with an outlet already behind the TV, are $99. A paintable cord cover is $49.

Can I just run the TV power cord inside the wall?

No. A regular TV power cord is not rated for use inside a wall. Use a listed in-wall power kit, which has its own in-wall rated cable and receptacles.

What is a cord cover, and when is it better?

A cord cover, or raceway, is a slim channel that runs on the wall surface and can be painted to match. It is the right choice for brick, plaster or walls where in-wall runs are not possible.

Can you add or move an outlet?

Ask me when you call or text, and I will talk it through with you. Outlets are quoted separately from the standard install. If an outlet is already behind the TV, in-wall AV cables are a simple add-on.

Can you hide wires above a fireplace?

Wire hiding on a fireplace wall gets a custom quote, because the space behind the surround is not a normal stud bay. See over-fireplace TV mounting.
